Mindful Meditation is one of the many popular forms of meditation, with the core of the practice revolving around becoming “mindful” or otherwise described as a heightened state of awareness in the present moment.
The process of mindfulness meditation, is focused towards expanding your state of conscious awareness via the method of focusing on the present moment. This results in the the individual easing into a relaxed but aware state where all surrounding stimuli, thoughts & emotions are observed in the present moment but pass by without judgment or further thought.
Meditation is simple at its core, it can be practiced by anyone, as it requires no equipment, it's completely free & it only requires a few spare minutes out of your day to reap the benefits!
Mediation has been shown to stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which assist the human body into a calm & relaxed state.
With the resulting calm and collected mental state from mediation, it's no surprise that cognitive performance once again comes into play. With studies showing that meditation can increase the volume of the hippocampus in the human brain as well as increased signaling in the brain
Mediation can be used to relax the mind in order to deal and cope with stress and improve overall emotional well-being, due to the resulting increase in levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) otherwise known as the calmative neurotransmitter.
Becoming mindful does not necessarily requires hours of endless meditation but rather consistency and a few minutes of your day. It's a skill, all it requires is some time and effort but you will be surprised, it's a lot easier than you may think!
